Say What You Really Mean, Elton

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Elton John addressed a variety of topics. Everything ranging from his new son, to rehab, to cock rings from Eminem?...(no that's not a typo) What especially caught my eye was his opinion of his frequent tour mate, Billy Joel. Saying, "At the end of the day, he's coasting. I always say, Billy, can't you write another song?' It's either fear or laziness. It upsets me. Billy's a conundrum. We've had so many cancelled tours because of illnesses and various other things, alcoholism." Following this statement, he pretty much proceeded to use the interview as a public plea to ask Billy to enter rehab. As fan who has worshipped Billy since my car seat days, dancing along to "Uptown Girl," I was saddened. But then again, you can't ignore the undeniable truth that Billy hasn't had a hit in years--"Piano Man" has carried him along forever, making him the male equivalent of someone like Celine Dion--ha! But whoaaa Elton--Cut your buddy a break here huh? Don't get me wrong, I love Elton, and have worshiped the old queen in all his glory since my mother first played "RocketMan." But if I must say sir, your so-called pal has been to rehab twice and battled depression for years. Just hand him the xanax why don'tcha? Perhaps some conversations are best saved for dressing rooms?--although I'm sure the mood backstage now will be MORE than awkward...
